Musicians Satya Dunning studied contemporary dance at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and Laban where she completed her MA in European Dance Theatre Practice. She was born in Dakar, Senegal and has been living in Europe since the age of 16. She has facilitated dance and movement in the community working with adults with a learning disability, young children and people, and adults with mental health difficulties for Artlink, IndepenDance and more recently Entelechy. She is currently researching her choreographic practise over a year long programme with dancer Amy Voris at Clarence Mews with Caroline Salem as her mentor. As well as working as a freelance Administrator, she is currently setting up a project which aims to support children in wheelchair better control their chair, develop wheelchair skills and be independent through dance, movement and music. She is aiming to develop the project into a company limited by guarantee and is looking for trustees to sit on the board. If you are interested, please contact Satya at dancingsatya@gmail.com LCD (London Contemporary Dance) The dancers in ‘Regeneration’ and ‘Angels’, are all studying at London Contemporary Dance School, and are completing their BA (Hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance, this July. Having previously trained in other genres of dance, they have specialised in Contemporary dance in the last three years. As well as having received a strong contemporary technical training, they have also gained experience in the performance and choreographic elements of dance. After graduation the dancers wish to pursue a career in dance, whether it be choreographically, as part of a company, or in other complementary fields, such as teaching. The dancers joined the COSMOS project in July, and are looking forward to participate in ‘Fire in the Snow’ in January. Having worked as members of the COSMOS community last year, they are delighted to contribute further to this very special project. Born in Malaysia, Raymond has worked in television, musical theatre and classical ballet. He danced with the National Ballet of Portugal and in musical theatre productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company; the London Palladium; Royal National Theatre and Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, as well as in Stuttgart, Hamburg and Zurich. His credits for German television include Tatort and Zorc and he choreographed for the UK television show, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet for the BBC. Raymond's other choreographic commissions include working for Ballet Black (Linbury Theatre), the National Ballet of Portugal; Hong Kong Ballet; Sommer Tanz Fest (Berlin and Switzerland); Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Artelier at the Music Room and The BrideWell Theatre in London. He teaches Professional Ballet at DanceWorks in London and is Ballet Master for Ballet Black. He is also currently a Ballet Lecturer at the London Contemporary Dance School Raymond Chai’s next project is choreographing a piece with ‘Two’s a Company’ in association with East London Dance and Stratford Circus. “I feel very proud and blessed to be involved in Cosmos – a project that is God centred – and a wonderful opportunity to be part of a community that celebrates the talents that God has given us and for us to be able to share it to the wider community.” Shah McOnegal Shah is a Sufi Muslim whirler, gardener and travelling musician. He has visited the Holy Land, Mount Athos and other sacred sites in Greece, explored Taoism, Tai Ji, Eastern Orthodox Christianity and Native American teachings. Currently he is happily with Sheik Nazim in Naqshbandi Sufism. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Krisztina Toth was a member of the Kolibri Dance Company where she trained mainly in jazz and contemporary dance as well as other disciplines such as ballet. Between 2001 and 2007 she was studied with the most well known dancers in Hungary and performed continuously with Kolibri. On relocating to Barcelona in 2007 she continued her contemporary and ballet dance studies, moving into contact improvisation. Always keen to learn new techniques, she has significant knowledge about belly dancing, and now living in London, she is continuing her studies in contemporary dance and ballet. For 3 years she has been very involved in object manipulation, and is incorporating the spinning of different elements with fire-dancing as a path to a deeper spiritual connection with the universe. Raised in Mauritius, Jerome works as a finance professional and holds a BA in Economics from Trinity College, Oxford. As a late starter to the performing arts, Jerome's main interests lie within the family of Latin-American dances as he currently trains competitively at the Wimbledon Dance Academy. He has also explored classical and modern forms of dance, through attendance to the Central School of Ballet and creative collaborations with Corrine Bougaard's Union Dance company. Jerome's personal interests are inclined towards the meditative and spiritual powers of dance, both as ritual and performing art, through which body and soul achieve a perfect celebration of God, Fullness of Life. |
