Musicians Ian Coleman is a liturgical musician. Director of music at the church of St Anselm & St Caecilia, Kingsway in central London, he plays the organ there and conducts the the Schola Caeciliana, a junior choir who have recently produced the CD 'Nativitas' of music for Advent and Christmas, and the Schola Anselmi, an adult group specialising in Gregorian chant, who performed in November at the multi-faith event 'Reaching the Soul' at SOAS in the University of London. As organist, he made the first recording of the works of Josef Labor, a Czech composer of the late nineteenth century, friend and musical mentor of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. Ian is also secretary of the Westminster Diocesan Liturgical Commission, and has written several articles on the links between liturgy, music and theology. Shirley studied Music at Liverpool University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As a soprano soloist, her performances have included Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Haydn‘s St Nicolas Mass at St George’s Hanover Square, and Mozart's Requiem at St Martin-in-the-Fields. She has appeared at the London Handel Festival and Mananan International Festival, and in recordings for BBC Radio 3 and 4. Her choral singing experience encompasses repertoire from 14th to 21st centuries and includes concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, and South Bank; staged opera performances; and cathedral and synagogue services. Shirley is also a qualified practitioner in Spiritual Healing, and works regularly at a healing clinic in central London. Her great interest is to explore the possibilities of healing with sound, and her involvement with Cosmos offers her the loving support and environment in which to do this. shirley.vaughan@blueyonder.co.uk Rado is from Slovakia and for six years has been a keen player of the traditional African djembe, a hand drum which plays an important part in the spiritual and social lives of African peoples, and is spreading rapidly across the world music scene. Rado is a head chef and also plays percussion withthe contemporary group Scoop. Ruth Fenton, Christine Hansen, Hidemi Hatada, Stella Rusczynski, Ian Jones, Lawrence Lew Philip Roderick Philip Roderickis an Anglican priest, percussionist and educator. "Sheer Sound" is the title of his solo CD featuring the ambient Hang Drum, which he plays in Cosmos and in workshops and concerts in the UK and North America. Philip's DVD "Sacred Posture" teaches a variety of body prayers from the Christian tradition. Sally is an Anglican priest. Before starting her training at Westcott House where she studied for a Bachelor of Theology for Ministry at Cambridge University and beginning her curacy at St John’s, Peckham in July 2008, Sally worked as a freelance singer/singing teacher and storyteller. Sally’s singing work involved a variety of performances and recordings. She led singing workshops for adults, which involved co-ordinating and facilitating the needs of groups with diverse ranges of personalities and abilities. Sally also worked as a storyteller in a wide range of mainstream primary schools and special needs schools. Prior to this Sally worked as a team-worker and fundraiser for adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems. Although, primarily her background and training is in theatre and music (Sally has a music degree from City University/Guildhall School of Music and Drama), she has worked with disability for eighteen years in a variety of circumstances. Firstly as a puppet maker, then later as support worker/life’s skills instructor and facilitator of workshops in drama, singing, and masks. Sally has worked extensively with community based theatre companies, which involved amongst other things; large scale community play productions and then touring these plays on a smaller scale, facilitating drama, singing, mask/puppet making workshops in schools and community centres and street theatre. More recently Sally worked part-time for Mencap as a storyteller workshop facilitator and respite carer. After studying at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology and an ex-member of Shift, Femi has recently graduated from the London Contemporary Dance School (The Place) and has worked with many different choreographers whilst training. At the same time Femi is as an established percussionist on the djembe and drumkit and he hopes to continue working in both dance and music in the future. |
